INTRODUCTION TO BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (BIT)

The bachelor of information technology (BIT) in an undergraduate degree that generally requires three to four years of study in Nepal. UNIVERSITIES OFFERING BIT in Nepal
I. TRIBHUWAN UNIVERSITY
The Institute of Science and Technology (IoST), one of the pioneer technical institutes under TU, has newly established the degree in Bachelor of Information Technology. This curriculum and the teaching methodology of this program is still under construction and thus, the degree is not available yet for prospective students in Tribhuwan University or its affiliated colleges.

II. POKHARA UNIVERSITY
The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), established in 1997 under the Pokhara University Act, offers its prospective students a degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology. The program provides knowledge about programming, database management systems, telecommunication, data mining and warehousing, and so on.
This is a four years program where one academic year constitutes of two semesters of 16 weeks each. The degree program is based on credit-semester system and the students will be required to acquire 135 credit hours in order to obtain the degree.
Entry Requirements
· Candidates should have completed their Higher Secondary level of education from Science stream or an equivalent degree with minimum second division marks or equivalent grades from a board recognized by Pokhara University.
· Candidates should appear in the entrance examination given by the Pokhara University.

III. PURBANCHAL UNIVERSITY
The Faculty of Science and Technology of the Purbanchal University offers a degree in Bachelor of Information Technology (B.I.T.) to its prospective students. This program provides scientific and technical knowledge and students will be required to study about management, technical communication, digital logic, financial and cost accounting, mathematics, data mining and warehousing, computer graphics and so on.
This is a four years program which is based on credit-semester system. The students will be required to acquire 140 credit hours in order to graduate and the students will be evaluated by the GPA method system.
Entry Requirements
· The candidate must have completed intermediate/ certificate level or 10+2 or equivalent degree from any recognized board.
· Candidates must have secured at least 45% in aggregate in their Plus Two or Intermediate or equivalent degree.
· Candidates are required to appear in the entrance exam test conducted by Purbanchal University (PU)
